Rodney Crowell’s Close Ties Arrives March 31

Four-Month Tour Starts Feb. 14

Rodney Crowell will release his 15th solo album Close Ties on March 31 through New West Records. The autobiographical 10-song collection follows the 2015 duets album with Emmylou Harris, The Traveling Kind.

Close Ties features the Sheryl Crow collaboration “I’m Tied to Ya,” while Rosanne Cash and John Paul White appear on track four “It Ain’t Over Yet,” marking the first Cash and Crowell collaboration since their 1988 No. 1 “It’s Such a Small World.”

The new music is described as some of Crowell’s most intimate and accessible work to date and features songs about his childhood in Texas, his arrival in Nashville, friends and lovers lost.

“A few years ago I made a record called The Houston Kid that triggered Chinaberry Sidewalks (Crowell’s 2011 memoir),” he said in a release. “Those memory muscles are pretty strong in me. They have a natural pull. And so many of these songs use those memories as raw material.”

The Americana Music Association and the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles will host An Evening with Rodney Crowell performance and Q&A at L.A.’s Clive Davis Theater on Jan. 23. The Grammy Foundation and MusiCares VP Scott Goldman will moderate the event.

A four-month tour to support Close Ties starts Feb. 14 in New Braunfels, Texas.
